UConn edges Florida in Jimmy V Classic as Huskies earn 11th win in 13 games at Madison Square Garden

UConn defeated Florida 77–73 in the Jimmy V Classic, earning its 11th win in its last 13 games at Madison Square Garden. Solo Ball led the Huskies with 19 points, while Tarris Reed and Alex Karaban added key contributions. Florida’s Xavian Lee scored 19 but struggled from deep. The University of Connecticut men’s basketball team defeated the University of Florida in the Jimmy V Classic. The No. 5-ranked UConn Huskies put up a total of 77 points while the No. The 18-ranked Florida Gators had only 73 in Tuesday night’s game at Madison Square Garden, New York.
This win marks the 11th win for the Huskies out of the past 13 appearances in Madison Square Garden.
The Huskies' scoring was led by junior guard Solo Ball, who had 19 points. Senior Tarris Reed, who missed out on the previous two games due to a lingering ankle injury, posted 12 points and five rebounds against the Gators. Alex Karaban finished with 13 points for the Huskies.
Florida shot 42.2 % and its 6-foot-3 Canadian Xavian Lee led the scorecard by posting 19 points. The senior guard struggled offensively and shot just 5 of 14 from the field and knocked down only one out of 7 three-point attempts. Florida’s Alex Condon scored 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds while Thomas Haugh finished with 18 points.
UConn has now consecutively won 5 games since its loss at home against Arizona, which is currently ranked No.1. Since the loss, UConn has defeated three of the top 25-ranked teams, such as Illinois, BYU, and Kansas.
